One of our younger members TWAT (Benjamin) goes to Carel du Toit so please come along and help support this worthy cause Turn a deaf ear ? - NEVER! Since 1973, the Carel du Toit Auditory-Oral Centre for deaf children in Cape Town, has succeeded in helping deaf babies and pre-schoolers, regardless of their socio-economic circumstances, to overcome their hearing disabilities. A stimulating, loving environment is created at the Centre in which a deaf child can learn to speak in a natural way. It was through the vision of Prof. Carel du Toit, an ear, nose and throat surgeon, at Tygerberg Academic Hospital Complex, that the Centre was established. He knew, that with the correct intervention, children could overcome the communication barrier of deafness and learn to speak and live normal lives. There is, without a doubt, hope for every deaf baby and young child at the CAREL DU TOIT CENTRE! Being deaf does not mean that your child will be unable to learn to listen and speak. Even children who hear normally have to learn to LISTEN and to SPEAK.
Wishing all Hasher a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year (2010)
Easy Rider NB I will be away until the 2nd January and wont have access to the internet ~ I will update once Im back ;-)
Durban H3’s 2000th Run will take place on the weekend 27/28/29th November 2009 at White Mountain Resort, in the foothills of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Drakensberg. Attached is the registration form, which gives details of costs. Chalet accommodation is limited. Therefore, I strongly suggest that, should you be planning to attend the event & require a chalet, you let me have the completed form & payment without delay. There is, however, plenty of dormitory, caravan & camping accommodation available. Only one form per chalet (max 6 persons) or group of up to 6 persons (sharing accommodation) is required, provided all names are listed on the form. Your registration fee covers accommodation, dinner on Friday & Saturday night, limited post-run & circle drinks and a “goodie” bag which will include a t-shirt. The chalets are self-catering for breakfasts & lunches, or meals can be obtained from the resort restaurant. A comprehensive cash bar will be available. (Please note; your own booze is only permitted in the confines of the chalets or caravans.) There will be a run on Friday evening, the main 2000th run on Saturday afternoon and a “liver” run on Sunday morning. Approximate times will be available when you arrive. All runs will have walking or shorter options. Entertainment will be a disco & karaoke, along with hash skits. We are hoping some visiting hashers will be able to demonstrate some unique talents too. If you can put an act together or perform some bizarre feat, & you don’t mind making an arse of yourself, then Pommie and Klippies will need to know about it. Should you have any further queries regarding our 2000th run please contact me at [email protected] Finer details & directions will be sent out to all registered participants nearer the time. The 2000th run mismanagement look forward to meeting you in November. Register NOW – participation is limited - you snooze you lose! On On Rear Entry |
